The three best social channels for marketing your dental practice

Arrow

Having choices is great, but sometimes too many options can be overwhelming.

That can definitely be the case with social media channels. If you want to use dental social media marketing for your dental practice, there are SO many social channels out there, you may not know where to start.

Hi, I’m Xaña Winans, Founder and CEO of Golden Proportions Marketing, one of the biggest and most experienced dental marketing agencies in the country. If you’re not sure which dental social media channels you should be using for marketing, I’d suggest you focus your attention on the “big three.”

Facebook

I don’t think I’m surprising you by saying Facebook is the one social media for dentists you should look at first. It is easily the most popular social media platform used by dentists for marketing purposes — and with good reason. Facebook reaches 69% of American adults and 74% of users are on the platform every day.

Another nice thing about Facebook is that it allows you to set up a Facebook Business Page, so you can share your office hours, location, contact information, and more. You’ll actually need a Business Page if you plan to do any Facebook advertising, so it makes sense to set one up.

Instagram

Instagram is a perfect sidekick for Facebook. It’s geared toward a younger crowd than Facebook, but you’ll still find plenty of patients there. Instagram isn’t for readers, it’s the place to catch people’s attention by sharing photos and short videos. Use it to share anything from fun behind-the-scenes videos of your team to educational content that helps patients maintain healthy smiles.

Youtube

Speaking of video, there’s one other channel that you might not think of right away as “social.”
Even though everyone has heard of it, people tend to think of YouTube as “that software that plays videos” and not a social media platform. It actually has more users than Facebook, and it also happens to be the world’s biggest search engine. (Sorry Google.) So if you want to be found, YouTube is a great place to be.

Some others you may be considering

You might be asking why I haven’t mentioned other social platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and TikTok. They can be useful for some practices or in particular situations, but most of the time dentists just don’t find them worthwhile.
