Use Good Dental SEO to Combat Bad Reviews

Arrow

Sooner or later we all get a bad review. But the good news is that you can use your dental SEO to keep people from finding them.

Hi, I’m Xaña Winans, Founder and CEO of Golden Proportions Marketing, one of the largest and most experienced dental marketing agencies in the country.

If you want to keep negative online reviews out of sight (and make your positive reviews easier to find), there are a few ways good SEO can help.

Post positive reviews on your website

First, you want to give people easy access to the reviews you want them to see. Getting and sharing a page full of positive patient reviews on your dental website is a great way to make a good first impression with new patients. Make sure your reviews page is optimized for any search phrases that combine your practice name and the words “reviews” or even “bad reviews” (since that’s what people are REALLY trying to dig up). Using video testimonials will help raise the SEO of the page even more.

Generate more positive reviews outside of your website

People will also find reviews outside of your website (after all, they’re not going to believe that everybody loves you).

Make it a priority to encourage your happiest patients to post their opinions on Facebook, Google, Yelp, and other online review sites. You can’t incentivize or reward them for posting positive reviews, but feel free to provide great customer service and then ask them to share their experience online.

Dominate the first page

In addition to your website, you want any searches for your business to bring up other online resources you have control over, like social media sites, on the first page of search results. If you don’t fill up those spots, that allows more opportunity for negative mentions of you and your brand to creep up higher on the search results page. Push them to page two. Nobody looks there anyway!

Find your negative feedback before patients do

I don’t care how good you are, sooner or later a negative opinion about your office will pop up online. If you don’t want to be caught off guard, use Google Alerts to help monitor the web for you and let you know when you need to respond to a comment before patients see them. Just enter your business name and you’ll receive alerts whenever you’re mentioned online. Remember, even negative reviews can be an opportunity to show great customer service when you respond to them in the proper manner.
