Obey the Traffic Laws for Social Media

Arrow

If you’re looking for more social media traffic, then there’s no way around it — you have to obey the “traffic” laws.

Hi, I’m Alison Micheletti, Senior Dental Marketing Strategist at Golden Proportions Marketing, the most experienced dental marketing company in the country. Today, we’ll review the “traffic laws” of social media posting and show how to follow the rules so you can “drive” more people to your office.

If you are constantly promoting yourself on social media… STOP! On social media, you need to develop relationships with your audience and keep them interested in what you have to say. That won’t happen if you are constantly in sell, sell, sell mode. The 80/20 rule for social media marketing for dentists is good advice to follow here. Keep 80 percent of your posts educational and entertaining. Once you have your audience hooked, then go ahead and use that other 20 percent to slip in suggestions to schedule a cleaning appointment, invest in whitening treatments, or get an implant for that missing tooth.

It’s okay to have fun on dental social media (in fact, it’s encouraged). But remember, your posts act as a brand ambassador, permanently. So… use CAUTION.

Always double check the quality of your posts and make sure that they are in good taste, truthful, accurate, and non-offensive. The last thing you want to deal with is a case of social media road rage.

Also make sure you have permission to use any content you post, and  Z.

Remember, once a major blunder is out there, you can’t take it back. Even if you delete your post or even erase all of your accounts, it will still be out there SOMEWHERE and you can bet it will come back to haunt you.

If you’re doing everything right on social media, then GO, GO, GO!

Social media for dentists needs to be frequent and consistent. Otherwise, you won’t be able to stay top of mind with patients. If possible, post at least once a day and mix your content up with a variety of topics. If you have a lead foot like me, then you’ll be pedal-to-the-metal and posting multiple times a day on multiple platforms.

Your social media followers are real people, with real feelings who could be potential patients. Show them who you are (and more importantly) what you can do to help make their lives better.
